Chemdawg lab report
What 668 state lab tests of Chemdawg flower show beyond a single THC number: the odds of a strong batch, how published figures hold up, which terpene leads test by test, which strains share its terpene mix, how much the lab matters and how it reaches the shelf.1
Key findings
- 71% of 668 lab tests reached 20% THC or more; 30% reached 25%.1
- 3 of the 6 single published THC figures sit above the median lab result.1
- β-caryophyllene was the most abundant terpene in 46% of tests, limonene in 41%.1
- Closest terpene mix among 17 strains: Sour Diesel (96% overlap), then OG Kush (93%).1
- Ranks 4th of 29 strains by median THC (22.94%), with the 17th-narrowest spread of 24.1
- Lab medians ranged from 16.39% to 29.22%, a gap of 12.83 points.1
- The highest-THC third of tests carried more terpenes than the lowest (2.01% vs 1.20% total).1
How likely is Chemdawg to test above 20% THC?
71% of 668 state lab tests of Chemdawg flower reached 20% total THC or more, about 7 in 10. 30% reached 25% and 5.2% reached 30%.1
The odds depend on where the flower was tested: 100% of California tests reached 20% (45 tests), against 52% in Michigan (121).1 Each state has its own growers, labs and testing rules, so the gap describes markets as much as plants.

Do published THC figures for Chemdawg match the lab results?
3 of the 6 single published figures we checked sit above the median lab result for Chemdawg (22.94%).1 The highest figure, Green House Seeds at 24.5%, was reached by 35% of tests.1,2
Seed-seller and label figures run higher than strain-database figures: the typical seller figure was reached by 39% of tests, the typical database figure by 78%.1
The 4 published ranges cover between 45% and 60% of tests, from 19–27% (Prime Cuts Nursery, Chem 91 clone) at the most to 19–24.8% (Weedmaps) at the fewest.1,3,4
None of these figures describes a particular jar; only the certificate of analysis for that batch does.

Which terpene leads Chemdawg, test by test?
No single terpene owns Chemdawg: β-caryophyllene was the most abundant in 46% of the 389 tests that report individual terpenes and limonene in 41%, with β-myrcene at 11%.1
Leafly names caryophyllene as the dominant terpene, and the lab tests agree: β-caryophyllene led in 46% of them.1,6
331 of the 389 tests come from Nevada labs, so the shares describe mainly Nevada flower.1
| Terpene | Tests where it led | Share of tests |
|---|---|---|
| β-caryophyllene | 180 | 46% |
| Limonene | 161 | 41% |
| β-myrcene | 42 | 11% |
| α-humulene | 4 | 1.0% |
| β-pinene | 2 | 0.5% |

Which strains have the most similar terpene mix to Chemdawg?
By the overlap of their typical terpene mix, the closest strains to Chemdawg are Sour Diesel (96%), OG Kush (93%) and Wedding Cake (92%); the least similar of the 17 strains compared is Durban Poison (39%).1
How it works: each strain's median level of eight terpenes is expressed as shares of their sum, and the overlap is the part of the mix two strains have in common (identical mixes score 100). Only strains with at least 30 tests reporting individual terpenes are compared. This compares lab chemistry only; it does not predict how a strain feels.
| Strain | Overlap | Lead terpene (by median) | Tests with terpenes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sour Diesel | 96% | β-caryophyllene | 167 |
| OG Kush | 93% | β-caryophyllene | 127 |
| Wedding Cake | 92% | β-caryophyllene | 1,383 |
| Granddaddy Purple | 90% | Limonene | 55 |
| Gelato | 88% | β-caryophyllene | 381 |
| Durban Poison (least similar) | 39% | Terpinolene | 236 |

How strong is Chemdawg compared with other strains?
By median total THC, Chemdawg ranks 4th of the 29 strains in our lab dataset (22.94%), between Wedding Cake (23.01%) and Lamb's Bread (22.74%).1 By the share of tests at 25% or more (30%), it ranks 4th.1
The middle half of its tests spans 6.12 points (19.25%–25.37%), the 17th-narrowest spread of the 24 strains with at least 30 tests: results under the name vary more than for most strains.1
| Rank | Strain | Median THC | Middle half | Tests |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2nd | G13 | 24.17% | 16.40%–27.43% | 97 |

Does the testing lab change Chemdawg's THC result?
Among the 10 labs that tested Chemdawg at least 20 times, the median result ran from 16.39% (Lab H, Maryland) to 29.22% (Lab D, California), a gap of 12.83 points.1
Most of that gap is between states. Within Nevada, the 4 labs with 20+ tests agreed within 0.80 points (23.78%–24.58%).1
Labs test different growers’ flower, so a gap is not proof that one lab reads high; it shows how much the number on a label can depend on who grew and who tested the batch. Labs are anonymized here; the downloadable test file names them.
| Lab | State | Tests | Median THC | Share at 20% or more |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lab A | Nevada | 199 | 23.78% | 83% |
| Lab B | Maryland | 67 | 21.94% | 63% |
| Lab C | Nevada | 56 | 24.58% | 100% |
| Lab D | California | 45 | 29.22% | 100% |

Does higher-THC Chemdawg also have more terpenes?
Mostly. In the 482 tests that report both, the third with the most THC (25.34% or more) had a median of 2.01% total terpenes, against 1.20% for the third with the least (22.39% or less).1
The pattern held in 2 of the 3 states with at least 30 such tests (Nevada up, Maryland up and California down).1 Total terpenes measure aroma compounds by weight; the comparison says nothing about effects.
| Tests from | Tests | Lowest-THC third | Highest-THC third |
|---|---|---|---|
| All states | 482 | 1.20% | 2.01% |
| Nevada | 331 | 1.13% | 1.81% |
| Maryland | 93 | 0.98% | 2.26% |
| California | 44 | 2.41% | 2.38% |

Is Chemdawg getting stronger?
Median THC went from 15.29% in 2018 (39 tests) to 29.10% in 2024 (46), +13.81 points.1
Holding the state fixed changes the picture: in Nevada, the median went from 24.54% in 2020 to 25.30% in 2023, +0.76 points.1 Much of the overall change comes from which states supplied the tests in each year.
Years with fewer than 20 tests are left out.
| Year | Tests | Median THC |
|---|---|---|
| 2018 | 39 | 15.29% |
| 2019 | 33 | 19.45% |
| 2020 | 93 | 23.38% |
| 2021 | 135 | 21.31% |
| 2022 | 116 | 20.83% |
| 2023 | 128 | 24.87% |
| 2024 | 46 | 29.10% |

In what forms, and under what names, does Chemdawg reach testing labs?
Of 1,210 lab results under exactly the name Chemdawg, 65% were flower; shake and trim 16%, concentrates 12% and pre-rolls 4.7%.1 Only flower enters the figures on this site.
Another 1,244 results carried a longer name that contains Chemdawg, 51% of all results with the name in them, led by “02 CHEM '91 x ALIENDAWG” (161), “96 CHEM 4 OG x THE WHITE” (117) and “Buds - El Diablo x Chem #4 #3” (103).1 Extra name words, cross markers and CBD versions mean these may not be the same plant, so they are excluded (how we match names).

How common and how pricey is Chemdawg on dispensary menus?
In our Weedmaps snapshot of 27 US markets (Oct 3, 2026), 256 store listings within 50 miles of each market's center carried Chemdawg flower, in 15 of the 27 markets: the 5th most of the 16 strains we track.12
Its median exact-eighth price was $14.70 in Los Angeles (typical other strain: $30.00), $32.00 in New York (typical other strain: $35.00) and $10.00 in Detroit (typical other strain: $16.00).12 That makes it cheaper than the typical strain in every market we could compare.
| Market | Chemdawg (priced eighths) | Typical other strain | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Los Angeles, CA | $14.70 (58) | $30.00 (10 strains) | −$15.30 |
| New York, NY | $32.00 (19) | $35.00 (9 strains) | −$3.00 |
| Detroit, MI | $10.00 (10) | $16.00 (4 strains) | −$6.00 |

What this data cannot tell you
- A particular jar: lab results describe flower sold under the name across 9 states from 2014 to 2024; only a batch’s own certificate of analysis describes that batch.1
- Effects: these are chemistry measurements. None of them predicts how a strain will feel to a particular person.
