Growing
Growing Chemdawg: flowering time, yield and breeder specs
The Chemdawg clone finishes in about 63–70 days indoors, grows tall, stretches hard in flower and smells strongly of diesel; Weedmaps rates it moderate to difficult.1 Seed versions run about 8–10 weeks, and most of them are not the original line.2,3,4,5

Breeder, seller and nursery figures are their own claims, not independent tests. Leafly’s grow block gives 7–9 weeks and 25–30 g per plant, but it shows the identical text on its Chemdawg, Chem 91 and Chemdawg #4 pages, so treat it as a template rather than a measurement.12,13,14
What the plant is like
Expect a tall plant that stretches hard once flowering starts: Weedmaps says it grows tall and stretches considerably, and Prime Cuts Nursery says its Chemdawg 91 clone doubles or triples in height in the first three weeks after the flip and builds elongated, spear-shaped colas that need trellising or staking by mid-flower.1,6 The nursery recommends early screen-of-green tucking, topping or aggressive low-stress training; Leafly says the plant trains well as a multi-branched plant or in a sea of green.6,12
Buds are described as rock-hard and extremely compact (SeedFinder), light green with orange pistils and heavy resin (Leafly’s Chemdawg #4 page, Weedmaps), with a diesel aroma that Weedmaps says makes stealth growing tough.1,5,14
What to watch for
Mold is the common warning. DNA Genetics says the dense buds are prone to mold and suggests 40–50% relative humidity and 68–80 °F during flowering with good airflow; Prime Cuts Nursery says humidity must drop below 45% by late flower to avoid botrytis.6,11 Humboldt Seed Organization, by contrast, calls its seed version resistant to moisture and suited to temperate, dry, Mediterranean climates.2
Odor control is the other: the plant’s diesel funk makes discreet growing hard, according to Weedmaps, and DNA Genetics recommends carbon filtration.1,11
Clone-only cuts versus seeds
The original cuts exist only as clones: SeedFinder says the original was never sold as feminized seed, and Weedmaps calls the Chem 91 SkVA cut clone-only.1,5 Licensed nurseries sell cuttings in some states, such as Prime Cuts Nursery’s Chemdawg 91 in California, and Chemdog grows his own mother plant for Smash Hits in Massachusetts.6,15,16
Seeds sold as Chemdawg fall into two groups. Some are lines bred from a cut: Humboldt Seed Organization’s feminized Chemdawg from the Chem 91 clone, Top Dawg’s Chem 91 BX and Reservoir’s Chemdog D BX#1.2,17,18 Others are new crosses that reuse the name: Green House’s Chemdog and Crop King’s Chemdawg are listed as OG Kush × Sour Diesel, Crop King’s Chemdog as Thai × Nepalese, and Inner Earth and ILGM name no parents at all.3,4,7,8,10
Seeds and the law in the US
Under the amended federal definition of hemp, viable seeds from cannabis plants above 0.3% total THC, including THCA, are not hemp.19 Congress delayed that exclusion, with most of the new definition, from Nov 12 to Dec 11, 2026; only the exclusion of products with cannabinoids the plant cannot produce naturally starts on Nov 12.20 Home cultivation rules are set by each state. This site does not sell seeds.
